Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie Reflect on Getting Cut From a Popular TV Show

While Today's Willie Geist made his Curb Your Enthusiasm debut recently playing himself, his co-anchors Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie didn't get so lucky with their planned cameo that got cut. Or so they think.

On a new episode of Today, Kotb, Guthrie, Carson Daly and more talked about Geist's performance on the show and celebrated his acting. As Daly said, "There could be more Today show family in Curb Your Enthusiasm," before cutting to an interview at the start of February in which the show's creator and star Larry David told the two women they were in this season, although they didn't believe him.

Guthrie recalled the conversation, saying, "We've heard it all before. We shot a whole scene, we thought it was hilarious," before revealing that David ended up cutting the scene, adding, "He enjoyed cutting us."

"And then...he tried to tease us," she continued, referring to the recent interview. "But I think he's lying!"

In the fun interview between David, Kotb and Guthrie, the comedian and actor confidently told the women, "You two, you're not cut this year. You're in it."

But Guthrie wasn't having it, telling Kotb, "He's lying. He's lying," before turning to say to David, "You do this every time." While the 76-year-old continued to insist on the cameo, Kotb and Guthrie were stern in their disbelief, leaving it up in the air for fans to see as the final episodes air.

Although it remains to be seen if the two appear in the sitcom, fans really enjoyed their banter on Today, with one comment on YouTube reading, "Best interview these ladies have done. Larry brings out the best."

"I am so appreciative of and love this talk. Thank you," said another, as more noted how sad they were about the show ending but wished David the best. The series finale will air in April, ending the run of Curb Your Enthusiasm that started with its debut in 2000.
