Hilary Duff and her son Luca stepped out in style as they made a rare red carpet appearance this week.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Lizzie McGuire alum, 37, and her 12-year-old son stopped by the Broadway premiere of The Cult of Love at New York City's Hayes Theater for a special mother-son outing.

As the pair posed for photos, Duff could be seen wearing a business-casual look, featuring a fitted black tee, gray dress pants with a black leather belt and simple black pumps. She completed her look with a floor-length black leather coat and a black purse as she sported a simple glam makeup look.

Luca, whom Duff shares with her ex-husband and NHL player Mike Comrie, wore a plaid shirt, oversized hoodie, a pair of baggy black pants and white gym shoes, as he and his mom stood side-by-side smiling for some photos.

Several of Duff's former castmates are appearing in The Cult of Love, including her Younger costar Molly Bernard, 36, and her How I Met Your Father cast mate Chris Lowell, 40. Duff has remained extremely close with some of her costars over the years, and Bernard even served as her doula when she gave birth to her 3-year-old daughter Mae at home in 2021, per ET.

In addition to Luca and Mae, Duff is mom to daughters Townes, 7 months, whom she welcomed in May, and Banks, 5, both of whom she share with her husband Matthew Koma.

Duff has been candid about raising Luca in a blended family and has shared how much he helps his sisters as a big brother. In an interview with Parents magazine in 2020, Duff revealed that Luca wrote a poem about their family and read it aloud at her and Koma's wedding.

"He wrote something really beautiful," Duff said at the time, "and it started off with, 'Our family is a galaxy shooting off of the cosmos.' He was so brave to get up and talk into the microphone."

In June this year, the Disney Channel alum also shared some photos and videos to her Instagram as Luca headed to his middle school graduation ceremony.

“My guy is graduating today. Got my waterproof mascara on,” the mom of four wrote over one cute clip, as “It Feels Like Summer” by Childish Gambino played in the background.

Just this week, Duff also opened up to PEOPLE about how she celebrates Christmas with all four of her kids — and revealed that this might be the year that she shows them her 2002 holiday album, Santa Claus Lane.

The singer and actress, has previously spoken about how 6-year-old Banks is a big fan of her music, especially her 2015 track "Sparks." As the holiday season gets into full swing, she said it might be time to finally play the festive album for her family.

"You know what, I need to," Duff told PEOPLE. "Maybe this is the year. Luca will have none of that, but Banks would definitely love it."
