Yahoo Lifestyle High ropes course to be built above race track
A high ropes course is set to open above a karting track in Hull.
The managers of Hull Adventure Centre said it would be the "first ever" course where the aerial action would take place above racing cars.
The attraction is due to open next spring after Hull City Council, which operates the centre, appointed a contractor to build it.
Manager John Haines said the course had been two years in the planning and he was "ready and raring" for it to be enjoyed.
The course, based at the site on Poorhouse Lane, is set to culminate in a 330ft (100m) zip line. It is hoped that up to 12 jobs will be created.
In March this year, Hull Adventure Centre marked 20 years of karting by introducing bubble ball football, tag archery and dodgeball to the site.
Councillor Paul Drake-Davis, the portfolio holder for regeneration at Hull City Council, welcomed the plans and said it would "add to what is already a popular facility".
Ali Glendinning, the chief executive of High-Low Ropes Course Consulting Ltd, which will build the course, said the "exciting project" represented "a fantastic opportunity to bring a unique, adrenaline-fuelled experience to the area".
