Buying Halloween candy super early—the candy you intend to pass out to the cute little ghosts and goblins in your neighborhood on Halloween—can be a chancy decision. It’s not easy to resist ripping open the bags to have “just one” piece. Before you know it, you’re heading to the store again to reload your stash because all the Halloween candy you bought in August has somehow “disappeared.”

Candy manufacturers are well aware of the lack of willpower many of us have and happily send Halloween-themed temptations to stores months before the holiday. Like the autumnal treats that are already whispering, “Don’t you want me in the 95-degree heat?” at Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’, bags of individually wrapped Halloween candy are also appearing on store shelves in the dead of summer.

Our favorite candy makers are launching lots of new treats for the 2024 spooky season, from a fall flavor of M&M’s to Twizzler’s first-ever Halloween-themed candy to a ghoulish new Kit Kat and a brand-new Reese’s peanut butter cup flavor. But there are lots of classics that are coming back for the season, too, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

In addition to all the exciting sugar-filled new releases, we’re relieved to learn that lots of fan-favorite candies from years past will be back in 2024. Hershey’s will be resurrecting six beloved Halloween candies and treats to the delight of trick-or-treaters everywhere:

  • Reese's Pumpkins: These treats have been available since July, and are a favorite of parents everywhere who choose to collect the Reese’s Tax from their little trick-or-treaters.

  • Reese's Skeletons: Reese’s switches it up a bit with colorful skeleton designs on the wrapper and traditional chocolate and peanut butter on the inside.

  • Reese's Assorted Jumbo Bag Snack Size Shapes: A 14.4-ounce bag of Reese's ghosts, bats, and pumpkins.

  • Hershey's Milk Chocolate Harry Potter Standard Size Bar and Kisses: The Hershey's Milk Chocolate Harry Potter Standard Size Bar features 12 enchanting collectible Potter-themed wrappers. The limited-edition Hershey's Harry Potte Kisses are wrapped in foils that feature wizarding world characters, houses, and moments.

  • Chocolate & Sweets Assortments: A combination of Haribo Goldbears and Hershey’s chocolate treats in one bag.

  • Halloween-themed SkinnyPop and Pirate's Booty: Add some salty treats to the mix with Halloween-themed bags of Skinny Pop and Pirate’s Booty.

So many options! The hardest choice of all, though, will be where to hide the Halloween candy so you don't consume it before the holiday. Or, you could go ahead and resign yourself to buying more sometime in October.
