Hailey Bieber Posted A Cryptic Statement On Instagram After Her Rep Denied She Shaded Selena Gomez On TikTok
Hailey Bieber has taken to Instagram to make her stance clear… I think.
Last week, Hailey found herself at the center of speculation once again about her alleged ongoing feud with Selena Gomez.
If you need a reminder, Selena, while now engaged to Benny Blanco, dated Justin Bieber on and off for eight years before ending things officially in March 2018. Hailey, who married Justin back in September 2018, lost almost a million followers on Instagram in 2023 as fans called out her alleged “mean girl” behavior toward Selena.
The "mean girl" allegations stemmed from a number of social media videos and posts in which Hailey and her friendship group, including Kendall and Kylie Jenner, were accused of shading Selena and mocking her appearance. Despite fan speculation, Hailey spoke about the accusations multiple times and shut down the narrative that there was drama "over a man."
In an appearance on The Circuit with Emily Chang in 2023, Hailey spoke about the situation, explaining, “I don’t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez — this is not about this pitting between two women and division between two women. It’s about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made-up and twisted and perpetuated narratives. That can be really dangerous.”
And while it's long seemed like things are all good between the two, the feud speculation was reignited last week when a TikTok creator publicly alleged that Hailey had liked a video mocking Selena and Benny.
In a video posted on Feb. 14, creator Courtney Presto mocked a series of pictures from Interview magazine of Selena and Benny (yep, the ones you’re thinking of), saying, “I had to look at these photos, so you do too.” And on March 6, Courtney posted a follow-up video — sharing a screenshot that showed Hailey's account liking the original video. “Hailey Bieber herself liked my TikTok,” Courtney said. “Don’t necessarily come for me in the comments, but I was being a little shady to Selena Gomez. However, that means that the Selena Gomez Justin Bieber beef is alive and well, people. Hailey probably fucking hates Selena.”
Multiple people in the comments accused the creator of faking the screenshot. And it wasn't long before Hailey's representative entered the chat to set the record straight. “This never happened," Hailey's rep told E! News yesterday. "This entire story has been fabricated by a content creator looking to capitalize off an old, tired narrative.”
And that same day, Hailey took to Instagram to share a cryptic statement, which many folks are speculating may be in response to all the chatter on TikTok. “pastors and preachers really love to put words together with the same letter and act like it’s HITTING so crazy…,” she wrote. “‘There’s blessing in the brokenness,’ ‘There’s grace in the gratitude,’” Hailey continued, “shit drives me bananas.” She then shared a meme of Elmo with his arms up in flames, and added, “and then people sit there like this eating it up!” before finishing up with a post that just read, “Anyways….”
Now, could Hailey just have been talking about her preferences for sermons in church? Most definitely. But given the timing of the post many fans are speculating that this might be Hailey's way of saying she wants nothing to do with these false narratives. But I guess we’ll never know for sure.
Good for her. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
