Hedge Funder Dan Loeb Just Sold His Waterfront Miami Beach Mansion for $35.5 Million

Four years ago, Dan Loeb forked over $20 million for a modern mansion overlooking Biscayne Bay in Miami Beach. Late last year, the East Coast-based founder and CEO of the hedge fund Third Point hoisted the property back on the market for $45 million. The price was subsequently reduced to $41.5 million before it was removed from the market this past June. Now records show a newly incorporated LLC named after the home’s exclusive North Bay Road address has stepped up to the plate, with the estate now under contract to be sold for $35.5 million.

That’s around $10 million less than Loeb originally wanted for the palatial pad, but it’s still $15 million more than he paid spec developer Peter Fine for the place in late 2020 before he invested some $10 million in upgrading the kitchen, millwork, and lighting. The listing was held by Danny and Jill Hertzberg of the Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker; David Solomon of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty repped the buyer.

Sequestered amid a walled and gated parcel spanning over a half-acre near the La Gorce Country Club, the architectural residence was designed by Choeff Levy Fischman. There are seven bedrooms and 12 baths in almost 14,000 square feet of living space on two levels accessible via a floating staircase and an elevator. Posh amenities include an office, a wine cellar, a wet bar-equipped screening/game room, a gym that flows to an outdoor yoga platform, and a massive roof deck providing bay and city skyline views, as well as an attached three-car garage and a dock resting along 100 feet of water footage.

Among the other standout features are spacious living areas sporting floor-to-ceiling pocketing glass doors spilling outside, along with a formal dining room and a sleek gourmet kitchen outfitted with two islands, Wolf appliances, and an accompanying breakfast nook. An opulent primary suite is decked out with a seating area, a balcony, and dual walk-in closets and baths, while a separate two-bedroom guest wing has its own entrance.

Rounding it all out are the palm-laced grounds, which host a mosaic-tiled pool and spa abutting a sundeck and an open-air cabana equipped with a seated bar and a built-in barbecue.

California-born Loeb, whose personal wealth is estimated at around $3.3 billion, told the Miami Herald when he first listed the vacation getaway that he is selling because he wants to focus on his primary New York residence, which is in a particularly coveted area of East Hampton. Records show he also maintains a huge penthouse in a top Manhattan building that he picked up more than 15 years ago for just under $46 million.
