Harrison Ford Skipping the Oscars for Health Reasons
Harrison Ford will not be presenting at the Oscars this year as planned due to a recent diagnosis, his rep confirmed to Parade.
The 82-year-old actor was diagnosed with shingles on Friday, Feb. 28, Entertainment Weekly reported on Saturday, March 1. The Star Wars actor pulled out as a presenter on Saturday morning, People later reported.
Parade reached out to representatives for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for comment on Saturday.
The star of the Indiana Jones film series was reportedly diagnosed just two days after the Academy added him to its list of presenters for this year’s Academy Awards, which will take place at 4 p.m. PT on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. The anticipated list of presenters also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Goldie Hawn, Ben Stiller, Oprah Winfrey and Selena Gomez, among others. Comedian Conan O’Brien will host the ceremony.

Ford was not among this year's list of Oscar nominees. He received one nomination decades ago in the Best Actor category for his starring role in the 1985 film Witness.
Ford has made many public appearances during the 2025 awards show season, and most recently attended the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) last weekend. Ford was nominated at the ceremony in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series category for his role in the television comedy drama Shrinking.
Though the SAG award ultimately went to Martin Short for his role in Only Murders in the Building, Ford had a moment of his own to shine while his Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams addressed the audience. As Williams detailed her early years in Hollywood, Ford, who was seated beside her, took the opportunity to snack on some food at the table. The moment quickly went viral.
