Hairless Peterbald Cat Becomes Ultimate Doting Dad Playing with Adorable Kittens

Male cats rarely participate in raising their young in the wild. However, they sometimes become interested in child-rearing in a domestic setting, especially when bonded to the kittens’ mom. And it's a delightful sight to witness when they become involved.

This handsome Peterbald cat isn't just watching from the sidelines. He's happily helping raise his kids and having a blast teaching them how to play.

Watch how he shows them how to have fun in this video from September 7:

What a great dad! Bartok’s Mom (@sputnik.girl) shows us how he enjoys every minute of fatherhood. He’s not only allowing his precious kittens to burn off energy and have some fun, but he’s also giving Mom a chance to take a well-deserved break. But this doesn’t mean Magda didn’t keep a watchful eye over her babies because she did! Fortunately, he’s a total natural with them, providing them with the perfect balance of playfulness and affection, and they seem equally thrilled about playtime with Dad. Although it may be uncommon for male cats to take this role, Bartok began helping with their care as newborns and has only grown more comfortable with them. He's equally committed to caring for their Mom as well.

Differences Between Peterbald and Sphynx Cats

The Sphynx cat was developed in the 1960s in Canada, and their hairless appearance resulted from a genetic mutation. However, the Peterbald originated in Russia in the 1990s by crossing a Don Sphynx and an Oriental Shorthair. This gives the Peterbald a distinctive look and color variations. While they can be completely hairless, some have velvety fur or a fine coat, and although some are born with hair, they can lose it as they age. While both cats are beloved for their social and playful nature, the Peterbald is reportedly more energetic overall. The Spruce Pets reveal that one of the Peterbald Cat’s most distinctive features is the webbing between their long front toes, which enables them to hold and maneuver different items.

People enjoyed watching this happy family. Viewer @carolinacartell responded, “This is wholesome. What a beautiful kitty family.” It’s hard to feel anything but good while watching them. Viewer @bird_nerd45 remarked, “Magda’s face is literally every mom on the planet when dad is roughhousing with the kids and working up their energies.” That’s the truth! Viewer @styledbykatemac responded, “They’re just darling. He’s so gentle with them. Love!” He took on this role like a total pro.

Although both mom and dad will miss these kittens once they are grown, this loving pair will still have each other. After doing such an incredible job raising them, it’s safe to assume they’ll spend their first days alone, sleeping soundly.
