‘Hacks’ Wins 2nd Golden Globe For Best Television Series Comedy Or Musical

Hacks followed star Jean Smart’s nod for best actress in a TV comedy/musical with another win for best TV series comedy/musical at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards tonight. It was Hacks’ ninth Golden Globe nomination and fourth win. Hacks previously won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2022, along with Smart’s 2022 win for best actress, as well as her win tonight.

“We are so lucky to get to tell this story. Since language was created we’ve all been telling stories and we’re honored to be in this room with all these storytellers,” said creator, writer, executive producer and director Paul W. Downs in accepting the award.

Downs closed his remarks with a plea to the crowd, noting they are shooting tomorrow and have a 6 am call time. “So if Jean Smart asks you for a shot, please do not give it to her, ok? Kate Winslett I’m looking at you wherever you are, give her water, give her water if she wants it ok? Just a little shot, maybe one.”

In Hacks Season 3, a year after parting, Deborah Vance (Smart) is riding high off the success of her standup special while Ava (Hannah Einbinder) pursues new opportunities back in Los Angeles. Season 4 is expected to premiere later this year.

Cast also includes Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo, and Lorenza Izzo.

Hacks is created and showrun by Emmy winners Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky. It is executive produced by Downs and Aniello via their Paulilu banner, Statsky via First Thought Productions, as well as Emmy winners Michael Schur via Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment and Morgan Sackett.

The studio is Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Hacks bested fellow nominees ABC’s Abbott Elementary, last year’s Golden Globe winner FX/Hulu’s The Bear, Netflix’s The Gentlemen and Nobody Wants This and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building.
