Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Husband Ryan Scott Anderson Talks Wedding No. 2 and His Wife's Dress (Exclusive)

The couple first married in 2022 during a small ceremony in prison

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, are looking forward to saying "I do" again!

The couple spoke exclusively with PEOPLE at the premiere of Lifetime's The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard in New York City on Friday evening, with Anderson — who walked the red carpet alongside his wife — sharing details about the couple's plans for a second, bigger ceremony after marrying in 2022 while Blanchard, 32, was in prison.

"We want a proper wedding at some point," he told PEOPLE, explaining that his wife "deserves" the special celebration.

"Gypsy deserves a white dress moment. I know every female deserves that. And Gypsy's already got the style of dress she wants. And it kind of shocked me," Anderson continued.

He added, "Somebody asked her that question the other day, and I was like, 'Wow, that was specific,' and she had it ready. So I wanna give her that moment."

Blanchard — who was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy at the hands of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard — was released from prison on Dec. 28 after serving eight years of a 10-year sentence. She previously pleaded guilty to murder in 2016 for her role in the killing of her mom.

The murder was carried out in 2015 by Blanchard's then-boyfriend, Nicholas "Nick" Godejohn, who plotted with Gypsy ahead of his crime. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison, while Blanchard, having served 85% of her sentence by 2023, had qualified for early release.

Blanchard and her now-husband first connected in 2020, when Anderson, who is a teacher in Louisiana, began writing to her in prison. By May 2020, the pair was exchanging back-and-forth emails and finally met in June 2021.

Around a year later, the couple married in a small ceremony in prison, with no guests attending.

Blanchard previously opened up about the couple's plan to have a second wedding after her prison release during a December conversation with PEOPLE.

"We do plan on having a reception/redo wedding with all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that. I deserve that. He deserves that," she said.

"Our prison wedding was just something to where we can make our vows to each other. It was something that meant something to us. And I think the party is kind of for everybody else and us, but mostly for everybody else," Blanchard added.

She also spoke to PEOPLE about her deep feelings for her husband, as she prepared to reunite with him. “We’re in love,” she said of Anderson.
