Gwyneth Paltrow To Star Opposite Timothée Chalamet In A24’s ‘Marty Supreme’
After a few years away from the big screen, Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow (Shakespeare in Love) is back, as we’ve learned that she’s set to star opposite Timothée Chalamet in A24’s new film Marty Supreme directed by Josh Safdie.
The project will feature her first substantial film role since Avengers: Endgame back in 2019.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the pic has been reported as being loosely inspired by pro ping pong player Marty Reisman. At the same time, sources close to the production stress that it’s a fictionalized original, rather than a biopic. It’s unclear for the moment who Paltrow will be playing.
Safdie and Ronald Bronstein penned the script and will produce alongside Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, Chalamet and A24.
For Safdie, who saw A24 produce and/or distribute his and brother Benny’s acclaimed films Uncut Gems and Good Time, Marty Supreme marks the first solo outing since 2008’s The Pleasure of Being Robbed. He comes to the project following the revelation not too long ago that he and his brother have split off to pursue solo directing careers, while continuing to produce together through their Elara Pictures.
Recognized with an Oscar for her turn in Shakespeare in Love, and a Golden Globe nomination for Proof — both from filmmaker John Madden — Paltrow played Pepper Potts in numerous Marvel films, beginning with 2008’s Iron Man, and is also known for performances in The Royal Tenenbaums, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Se7en, Shallow Hal, Great Expectations, Emma, Sliding Doors, Contagion, and other films.
In television, Paltrow most recently starred in Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan’s The Politician for Netflix. She won an Emmy for her work on Fox’s Glee in 2011.
Paltrow is represented by CAA, Lighthouse Management & Media, Gang, Tyre, Ramer, and Latham & Watkins.
