Guy Pearce reveals extremely dark period he went through after split from wife

Former Neighbours star Guy Pearce has opened up about an extremely dark period he went through after his split from wife Kate Mestitz.

Whilst he was working overseas in Germany a few years back, the actor was hit a very low point in his life.

“I had a little period in the middle of 2015 where I was staggering across busy streets in Berlin where I thought, ‘If I get knocked down by a car, that will be an easy way out’,” the 50-year-old told the Herald Sun in a recent interview.

“I wasn’t wanting that but I think probably like Jeff Buckley when he went swimming in Wolf River that time, ‘If a current takes me down then so be it’,” he added.

In October 2015, Guy announced he and now ex-wife Kate had separated after 18 years of marriage.

He moved on with Dutch actress Carice van Houten, 41.

The couple started dating in late 2015 and eventually welcomed their first child together – a son named Monte – in August 2016.
