Kendrick Lamar would approve of one groom's epic walk down the aisle!

Before bride Shamar Marchand (née Brown) reached the altar on March 1 at Hilton Miami Aventura in Florida, her fiancé, Adler Marchand, made his wedding ceremony entrance one that their 206 guests will never forget. He danced down the aisle to a custom wedding remix of Lamar's hit "Not Like Us."

In a recording of the wedding entrance — which has nearly 18 million views on TikTok since it was posted by the groom's sister, Yrva Marchand, on March 2 — Adler looks dapper at the end of the aisle wearing a cream suit and golden eyewear. His best man, Bryan Roberts, stands beside him. Suddenly, the music shifts from Young Thug and Gunna's "Hot" to Lamar's "Not Like Us," which causes guests to erupt into applause.

"It's a wedding day vibe, I'ma step up through the door," Adler lip synched. "You really 'bout to do it? Ring and vows set in place this is bigger than the moment. You really 'bout to do it?"

Guests cheered as Roberts gave Adler some lip balm and adjusted his suit.

"Then get on it like that. Ayy, I'm trippin', I'm slidin', I'm ridin' through the back like, 'Baow.'"

The crowd then erupted as Adler and Roberts danced down the aisle like Lamar during his Super Bowl performance on Feb. 9 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

"The response from our guests was absolutely incredible — they went wild, hyping me up the entire way down the aisle," Adler tells PEOPLE. "Many friends and family members mentioned that they expected nothing less, given my energy and creative talents."

He continues: "I was admittedly nervous and even started forgetting some of the lyrics we rehearsed. I remember my best man whispering, 'Hold on, don’t go yet!' when I started moving too early. Despite the nerves, we all improvised together, and that collective energy turned a few hiccups into one of the most memorable moments of our day."

Adler tells PEOPLE that his "Not Like Us" wedding entrance was a "last-minute decision." He was originally planning on "casually" walking down the aisle to "Hot."

"But after thinking about it more, I decided to remix Kendrick’s halftime performance lyrics and reached out to my friend and producer Danny Ramirez, to see if he could rap and create it for me," he explains. "Once he sent it back perfectly, I shared it with my fiancée at the time, and she approved. Then, I ran it by my best man, and he liked it too."

Just two days before the wedding, Adler met up with Roberts for 10 minutes to quickly rehearse.

"And that was it!" he says. "The whole idea and execution came together within a week, making it one of the most spontaneous but exciting parts of the wedding."

Adler has always been a "huge" fan of Lamar, "not just for his music, but for his vibe as an entertainer and creative visionary."

"The energy in 'Not Like Us' has always resonated with me, and after watching his Super Bowl performance repeatedly (I lost count after watching it 100 times!), I was completely inspired to incorporate that vibe into my wedding," Adler says. "With my last name being Marchand and our wedding hashtag #MarchandDownTheAisle, it felt like a perfect and relevant match that truly captured the excitement and uniqueness of the day I was marrying my bride."

Shortly after his unforgettable entrance, Adler exchanged vows with Shamar.

The couple met through church in 2016 when they were both attending Latter Rain Family Worship Center, but they didn't romantically connect until four years later in 2020 when they worked together on their pastor’s 50th birthday party. Adler asked Shamar to be his girlfriend on Aug. 2, 2020, and popped the question on Nov. 2, 2023.

"After years of dating, I knew she was the one," he says. "I’m now excited to tie the knot with my best friend."
