Which “Grey's Anatomy” Character You Are, Based on Your Zodiac Sign
As the series returns for season 21 on Sept. 26, find out which character relates most to your zodiac sign.
Ever since Grey's Anatomy premiered on March 27, 2005, our lives have been consumed by the melodrama surrounding the surgeons, nurses and patients who go to the now-called Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle, Wash.
The endless romances, upsetting endings and emotional revelations that the characters have experienced throughout the show's tenure on ABC have felt like it's affected us all personally since our lives have been significantly transformed by the show — giving us lots to talk about with our colleagues, besties and family members. Therefore, it's only natural to see how the characters' zodiac signs align with ours.
Interestingly, Grey's Anatomy premiered when the North Node of Destiny was an Aries, which it currently is now, marking the show’s nodal return.
The nodal return occurs every 18 to 19 years when the Nodes of Destiny return to where they were when we were born. In this case, it is the show’s birthdate or premiere date. This means the series is coming into its own hands and making significant changes this year.
As the series returns for season 21 on Sept. 26, find out which character relates most to your zodiac sign.
Aries: Cristina Yang
Christina Yang is a competitive doctor whose career is rising, leaving her to take a fantastic job in Zürich. Since the Fire sign is always successful in every venture they undertake and usually excels in their career, it makes sense that she aligns with being an Aries. Interestingly, her birthday on the show is April 15, making her the national-born leader of the Seattle hospital and Aries Sun, so her aggressive “can-do” attitude is inherent.
Taurus: Alex Karev
It makes total sense that the writers made Alex’s birthday on May 1 fall during Taurus season. Let’s be honest; he is loyal and dedicated to others — even leaving the hospital he’s worked at for years to be closer to his children. As usual for Taurus, love is on his Venusian heart. Yes, he’s hot-headed at times, but most Tauruses are. A bull will defend and protect those they care for at all lengths.
Gemini: April Kepner
April’s birthday is April 23, but she’s more Gemini than Taurus. It takes April a few seasons to find her voice, but when she does, she is assertive. Like most Geminis, she develops her personality and character with time and learns how to speak up for the right things. The Mercurial sign becomes aware of how to use their words to benefit others and themselves with age, which is exactly what April does on the show.
Cancer: Miranda Bailey
Miranda is a true Cancer. As the general surgeon and director of the residency program, and former chief of surgery, Miranda Bailey is a force to be reckoned with. Not only is she the mother of three children, but she also is the “mama bear” who enforces the rules and teaches her interns lessons about surgical procedures and life, which is very Cancerian. The values she instills in them from the first day onward are extraordinary.
Leo: Mark Sloan
Yes, Mark is Sagittarius because his birthdate is Dec. 19; however, being that he is extremely popular and smoking hot, earns him the name McSteamy. The attention he gets from the staff makes him a noteworthy Leo. Also, his confidence and self-importance are qualities of the Fire sign — as well as his heart of gold when it comes to matters regarding the complex friendship with Derek Shepard and the women he loves.
Virgo: Owen Hunt
Owen Hunt was born on May 6 and is a Taurus according to the show; however, his earthy appeal translates to Virgo. After serving in the army, he has PTSD, which he’s dealing with by using work as a form of healing. Like other Virgos, Owen is of service to others even though he is struggling on the inside. Learning to take care of himself and putting his needs first takes time, but he’s managing.
Libra: Addison Montgomery
Oct. 13 is Addison’s birthday, syncing her with Libra. Addison’s desire to connect with others and maintain relationships resonates with the Air sign. Not to mention the love triangle she is involved with between her, “McSteamy,” and “McDreamy.” The uncertainty and confusion she faces in Seattle forces her to do the only thing Libras can do: run away from the situation and recreate the same issue again — that is until they learn their lesson.
Scorpio: Jackson Avery
The mysterious plastic surgeon's intense demeanor connects him with the brooding and deep Water sign Scorpio. Jackson’s transformation into spirituality challenges his beliefs at work, forcing him to take a step back and look at the bigger picture of the peripheral aspects of his career and life. Jackson's metamorphic Scorpio nature is the reason he evolves and grows in the series. The looming reemergence of Jackson Avery this season could bring additional change his way.
Sagittarius: Izzie Stevens
Having the birthday of Nov. 24 means Izzie is a Sagittarius. Since Izzy does what she pleases in pursuit of her own happiness and leaves her job behind to pursue a satisfying life in Kansas, it's essential to know that she is the free spirit of the gang. Her career path has led her to make advances, going from lingerie model to ad doctor, allowing her intellectual and open hearted Sagittarian essence to come out.
Capricorn: Derek Shepherd
The infamous neurosurgeon is known for his brilliant mind and work ethic as well as his charm. Honed “McDreamy,” Derek is the quintessential “Prince Charming” of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Derek gives all of his energy to his job and coworkers, which is an amazing attribute of sea-goats. His rizz and professional development throughout the series make the doctor a Capricorn to the core.
Aquarius: Meredith Grey
Meredith’s birthday is never revealed, but she exudes Aquarian energy. As the reliable narrator (whom we love and adore) of the show, she takes the viewer on a voyeuristic journey, allowing us to understand the dynamics of her colleagues and friends without holding back. Through a precise and informative Aquarian manner, Meredith takes us into her world and lets us see the real world of doctors — the good, the bad, the ugly and dramatic.
Pisces: Jo Wilson
Although Jo’s birthday is June 24, casting her as a Cancer, she exudes the attributes of another Water sign, Pisces. Jo’s journey in the show is about healing and overcoming the past. No other zodiac sign has the capacity and capability to transcend and grow like Pisces, making Jo a prime example of the mystical fish. Jo goes through her fair share of ups and downs but keeps swimming due to her faith in herself.
