Zoe Saldaña Gives Shout-Out To Fellow Nominees After Winning Golden Globe For ‘Emilia Pérez’

The award-season campaign for Zoe Saldaña is officially off to the races as she took home the Golden Globe on Sunday for Best Performance For Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Emilia Pérez. Before thanking her cast and crew, Saldaña gave a shout-out to her fellow nominees and appreciated how graceful they all have been.

“I am so grateful,” she exclaimed, fighting back tears. “I know this is competition but all that I have witnessed is of us showing up for each other and its just so beautiful.”

Those fellow nominees included Ariana Grande In Wicked, Felicity Jones in The Brutalist, Margaret Qualley in The Substance, Isabella Rossellini in Conclave and her Emilia Perez castmate Selena Gomez in. Her win marked the film’s first of the night among a leading 10 nominations; the Netflix crime drama musical about a drug cartel leader who fakes their own death to live their true life won four Globes on the night including Best Picture – Musical or Drama.

After thanking all her cast and crew, Saldaña gave a shout-out to her director Jacques Audiard for not only creating her incredible character but also for how he is as an individual.”

“Thank you for trusting me,” she told the director. “You are just a character that I admire so much, you create rich and complex characters and you’re also so French and chic and confident and kind.”
