To Gordon Ramsay, working out is a gift — literally.

In the October cover story for Men’s Health UK, the celebrity chef, 57, spoke about the role that exercise plays in his life — especially after he experienced a scary bike accident this summer. But Ramsay has been adamant about the importance of working out long before the incident in June.

Ramsay told Men’s Health UK that he has used exercise to balance out stress in the kitchen since his early 40s. Now he signs up for at least two sporting events, like “an Ironman, a marathon, just something,” every year.

The results of his regular exercise shows: He has cut down his marathon running time nearly in half from his first in the early 2000s. It went from 5:50 to 3:30.

His family has a similar affinity for working out, whether it was their idea or not.

The cookbook author recalled how he and his wife Tana gave their twins Holly and Jack, now 24, a fitness-focused gift in 2018.

“While a lot of our friends buy their kids cars and f---ing iPads, we got our kids marathon places for their 18th birthday. You’re running the marathon for Great Ormond Street. Here’s your bib. Now move your arse,” he said.

Tana, who shares Megan, 26, Holly, Jack, Tilly, 22, Oscar, 5, and Jesse, 9 months with Gordon, is an athlete herself having completed her first Ironman 70.3 back in 2015.

One of Gordon’s children is following more than just his fitness footsteps. Tilly, the Ramsays' youngest daughter, revealed on Sept. 3 that she is heading to culinary school.

Tilly graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Psychology in July. More recently, she posted a photo of herself in head-to-toe culinary gear on her Instagram Stories.

“@gordongram took me out to buy my first chef whites as I am off to culinary school this September!!” Tilly wrote about the picture, which showed her in a classic chef uniform: a white, double-breasted jacket, trousers, and black, non-slip kitchen clogs. “I am so excited for this next chapter and dad and I had the most exciting day getting all my uniform and equipment 🫶🏼❤️.”

The 22-year-old has dipped her toe in the culinary world over the years. She released Tilly's Kitchen Takeover cookbook when she was 15 and has appeared as a guest on her father’s numerous shows, including Hell’s Kitchen and The F Word.

She was made a full-time judge on MasterChef Junior in spring 2024.
