The new episodes will draw on elements from author R.L. Stine’s immensely popular children’s book series including titles like “Stay Out of the Basement,” “The Haunted Car,” “Monster Blood,” “The Girl Who Cried Monster,” “The Ghost Next Door” and “Welcome to Camp Nightmare.” And the entire eight-episode second season drops Friday, Jan. 10. (Watch the official trailer here.)
“The Goosebumps stories are just so entertaining,” Schwimmer says in our exclusive preview embedded above. “They tap into our genuine fears, but at the same time it’s really fun and there’s a sense of play about it.”
Adds executive producer Rob Letterman: “One of the things R.L. Stine told us a long time ago: All of the storylines are really about universal fears and how you face them.”
The Vanishing will have no shortage of frights, action and bizarre phenomena. The clip above gives us a sneak peek of the monsters (and monster blood!) that will soon terrorize a brand-new group of kids, including a pair of siblings (Dead to Me’s Sam McCarthy and Side Hustle’s Jayden Bartels) who are visiting their father for the summer.
“It feels just really grounded and I think it’s helpful that we start there so that we can launch and spin off into some really wild adventures,” teases Schwimmer.
