You haven't seen a red carpet like this before.

On Tuesday night at the Museum of Modern Art New York City, stars including Demi Moore, Naomi Watts, Calista Flockhart and Molly Ringwald got glammed up for the black-and-white carpet premiere of their new Ryan Murphy project, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.

The story is based on a real-life drama, when Truman Capote (played by Tom Hollander) tanked his own social circle by writing an exposé on his powerful and privileged friends. The so-called society "Swans" quickly cut him off and put a target on his back.

The cast is all-star, with Flockhart as Lee Radziwill, Chloë Sevigny as C.Z. Guest, Diane Lane as Nancy "Slim" Keith, Ringwald as Joanne Carson, Naomi Watts as Babe Paley and Demi Moore as Ann Woodward.

Demi Moore stunned in a swan-inspired dress and sparkling jewels.

Calista Flockhart

Calista Flockhart (in a Zuhair Murad gown and Tiffany & Co. jewelry) called costar Chloë Sevigny a modern-day Swan. Plus, "she's my fashion icon," she told PEOPLE.

Chloë Sevigny

Speaking to PEOPLE on her thoughts about the "Swans of today," Chloë Sevigny said, "I think the Swans were all about mystique and every day everyone to like commodified any sort of mystique. They might have a very different time, a very different age."

Diane Lane

Diane Lane told PEOPLE that her Tiffany & Co. pendant was a "Cinderella" moment. She paired the gem with a custom velvet Cristina Ottaviano gown.

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts (who attended with husband Billy Crudup, not pictured) carried a very appropriately shaped bejeweled swan purse.

Molly Ringwald

Molly Ringwald echoed some of costar Chloë Sevigny's statements on modern-day Swans, telling PEOPLE that they were "like the influencers of their day. Today, I think about Beyoncé or Taylor Swift."

Tom Hollander

Tom Hollander plays Truman Capote in the series, a man he called a "rebel."

"I think in a world where people were much more repressed, he was a great show off in a world where everyone is showing off all the time," said Hollander.

Ella Beatty

Ella Beatty, daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, told PEOPLE that her parents' best advice has been "Kindness, treat people with respect, work really hard and be grateful."

Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts was a vision in white, wearing a Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown with ostrich feather accents.

Ryan Murphy

Before the premiere began inside, Ryan Murphy paid tribute to the late Treat Williams, who also stars in the series.

Jon Robin Baitz

Even the men stayed on theme, with writer Jon Robin Baitz going for black-and-white as well.

For the afterparty at the iconic Plaza Hotel, Demi Moore changed into a Dolce & Gabbana silk chiffon and cotton dress with satin buttons and bow, plus silk briefs and a patent leather handbag.

Molly Ringwald and Chloë Sevigny

Molly Ringwald also changed it up, slipping into a black-and-white suite before kicking back alongside costar Chloë Sevigny.

Calista Flockhart had some fun with her afterparty look, a sheer feathered minidress by Taller Marmo.
