Fans spot another Game of Thrones editing fail
Warning: Potential spoilers ahead
Fans have spotted another Game of Thrones editing fail, just one week after the internet was set alight when a coffee cup made its way to Westeros.
This time the blunder focused on Jaime Lannister’s right hand which made a miraculous return to the show – despite being severed off in season three.
Fans were quick to point out the gaffe, which began to circulate online after being spotted in a promo image for episode five.
The hand makes its appearance in a photo of Jaime embracing sister and former lover Cersei, as the Red Keep burns around them, but the blunder apparently never made it onscreen.
A HBO rep reportedly confirmed the hand only made it to social media after the promo shots were apparently distributed by the show’s digital team.
But it didn’t stop GoT’s notoriously-dedicated fan base pointing out their discovery on social media.
“Y'all they forgot Jaime got his hand chopped off. This is so sad and so funny at the same time,” wrote one perplexed viewer.
“Jaime still has his right hand in #GOTS8E5 WTF??” asked another.
Shortly before the scene where his real hand had to be edited out, Jaime’s replacement golden hand was waved around above a crowd.
The golden hand is so integral to his character that he was waving it around hoping someone would identify him by it.
The hand’s return comes just one week after a takeaway coffee cup was spotted within arms-reach of Daenerys.
Responding to the massive reaction in the spirit of the gaffe, HBO said, “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”
Although the fail marks the first time a coffee cup made it to fans’ screens, there was another close call in season one - involving a then-two-handed Jaime.
Back in 2014, a photo circulated showing him holding a coffee cup at the Purple Wedding, but the shot was later revealed to be from a behind-the-scenes video.
