Gabrielle Union won't let anyone tell her to 'dress her age'

Gabrielle Union isn’t just an actress; she’s also got her own fashion range, and recently welcomed a daughter with husband Dwyane Wade.

But while the 46-year-old frequently posts photos of her fans proudly modelling her latest designs, one Instagram follower found it necessary to play fashion police.

Union recently shared a photo of herself wearing a black, ruched dress from her upcoming collection and green sneakers.

Most fans left comments gushing about her look, but one commenter took a potshot.

“Can you dress your age please?” the person fumed.

It didn’t take long for Union to respond.

“Oh I’d looooove to hear what you think is age-appropriate,” the Bring It On star shot back. “Please gimme alllll the age-appropriate fashion advice I didn’t know I needed in my life.”

The fashion jab didn’t fly with Union’s fans either, who rushed in to defend the star’s style and her right to dress as she pleases. Several said they were in their 40s and 50s and took inspiration from her look.

“I absolutely [love] your NY&Co. collection and I’m 50!” read one comment. “Ignore ignorance and keep them coming.”

“We are the same age and I don’t see anything wrong with how you dress!!” added a fan. “Also, you don’t even look your age … not sure what we should be wearing if this isn’t appropriate??? You look great!!”

“It’s women like you that show me you can still be young and beautiful at our age!!” another commenter wrote. “I’ll be 46 this year and it is on!!! You are truly a blessing!!! Keep it up lady!!”

It’s Union’s second round of clapping back at trolls this month. In early December, she spoke out after being criticised for kissing her infant daughter, insisting that she and Wade were following healthy parenting practices.
