How to Make Frozen Dinner Rolls 10x Better

When you want to save some time cooking Thanksgiving dinner, you probably reach for some instant or pre-made food options, like jarred gravy or frozen pie crust. One of the most time-consuming dishes to make for Thanksgiving is rolls, but there are lots of options for frozen rolls.

Frozen dinner rolls are incredibly convenient because they’re pre-made and ready to bake, saving you a lot of time and effort. They just require only a quick reheat or bake to be ready to serve. Sadly, they don’t always match the quality of homemade rolls. Frozen rolls may lack the freshness and softness that homemade rolls have, but there are things you can do to make your frozen rolls taste better.

We've upgraded our frozen rolls by brushing them with butter and sprinkling them with Parmesan cheese or serving them with a fancy flavored butter, but All Recipes recently shared a great tip on Instagram (@allrecipes) to make your frozen dinner rolls ten times better, and this is going to be a great tip to use for Thanksgiving this year!

The Best Way to Upgrade Frozen Dinner Rolls

"Nobody’s gonna know.....how would they know you made these Fauxcaccia Bites in the time it took to watch this video?" the food site posted in the caption of their Instagram photo.

Amanda from the All Recipes team showed us how to make the makeshift focaccia rolls. First, place a generous amount of olive oil in the wells of a muffin tin. Then, put thawed frozen dinner rolls in each of the wells. Let the rolls rise, then press them down and drizzle more oil on top.

Next up: the fun part: adding the toppings. Amanda added various ingredients, like cheese, bacon, olives and jalapeño, but she said "add whatever the hell you want" and we're here for that direction. Finally, the rolls are placed on a baking sheet and baked until the tops are golden brown.

This is such a fun take on focaccia, the fluffy Italian bread. Traditionally, focaccia is drizzled with olive oil before baking and then topped with things like olives, tomatoes and onions. It also needs to be kneaded and folded and making it is a process. This "fauxcaccia" is a simpler way to make this beloved bread and gives you something new and exciting to serve at Thanksgiving dinner this year.

The holidays are a perfect time to make them, but we're also keeping the idea in mind for the rest of the year, when these easy buns would be great for sandwiches or dinner parties.

We also started thinking about all the ways we could customize our own "fauxcaccias." Pesto and Parm would be tasty or a Greek-inspired number with feta, rosemary and some lemon zest. We also think they could be a good base for puffy personal pizzas, especially for kids. Just set out the mini dough and the toppings and let them go to town!
