Found: Shanola Hampton Unpacks Fall Finale’s ‘Heartbreaking’ Margaret Twist, Teases Sir Showdown Ahead
The following contains spoilers from the Found midseason finale, which aired Nov. 21 on NBC.
This Thursday in the Found midseason finale: As a still-fractured M&A handled the case of a missing, schizophrenic mom, Margaret’s situation hit a breaking point, Zeke’s handiwork landed him in hotter water with the DCPD, and a message from Sir led Gabi into a doors-slammed-shut meeting with her onetime tormentor-turned-captive.

Here is what series star and producer Shanola Hampton shared with TVLine about the episode’s big reveals, and what’s next when the sophomore drama returns in eight weeks, on Jan. 16, 2025.
TVLINE | As a producer, had you known all along that Margaret shooed Jamie away at the bus station that fateful day 13 years ago, and she’d been burying that incredible guilt?
NK (showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll) does kind of tell us what’s going on, so yes — but to see it is a little bit shocking. As a fan of the show, which I am also, I was like, “Oh, Margaret, ouch.” You feel badly when you see it happen. You feel bad for Jamie and then also for Margaret to have to carry it. It’s heartbreaking, and shocking.
TVLINE | I almost have to wonder if sharing this with the team, unloading this, will help her in the long run.
I think that, ultimately, that’s one of the central themes of this season, right? Once you unload all of your secrets, you feel the relief of it — but then of course there’s the fallout. I think it does help, but you know what what would help her the most: “Can we find Jamie?” That would really do the job. Let’s find Jamie.
TVLINE | Is that a Season 2 question, or for Season 3?
Definitely Season 2.
TVLINE | Zeke broke all kinds of laws to dig up a letter from Sir to Gabi, which led her to this “slammed doors and brass knuckles” rendezvous in the episode’s final moments. What’s his agenda here?
Well, that’s the thing — he now has Gabi back in his reach, and the first agenda is just to be in her presence again. It is a an obsession to have her with him. But he’s set up and ready for her, and he’s going to reveal something that will be questionable at first, but also will cause another trip down the rabbit hole for another character.
TVLINE | Does he have some big, multimedia presentation ready to go?
I mean, he’s got a Sir version of it, for sure!
TVLINE | Can you give a flavor for how Zeke will be able to help the team now that he’s been unplugged again?
He’s going to have to really dig in and try to use some other electronics, cell phones… He will have to find a way to do things old school. It’s going to be hard for him, and that is also so heartbreaking to see, for that character. But he’ll figure it out.
TVLINE | At the end of the day, what will it take to heal M&A? Or at least get them to 90%?
Time. There’s time, and there are events in life. And that’s really the great part about having a show that does have 22 episodes, that we don’t have to tie it up in a nice little bow after five episodes, because it doesn’t make sense. What we try to do on our show — and I think that we do a pretty decent job of doing it — is human reflection and what actual humans go through in the healing process. When something is damaged, a friendship or relationship, when you get back — if you ever get back — it’s really the time that did it. Or a circumstance or a case will bring them together, or something that has happened. Will it ever be the same? No. But the luxury of time is what the healing.
