Yahoo Lifestyle Former Lakers Coach Luke Walton Sells His SoCal Home for $10.3 Million
Back in spring 2017, when he was still head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, Luke Walton paid the ex-wife of beleaguered stockbroker Jordan Belfort $7.2 million for a sprawling home in the affluent seaside community of Manhattan Beach. Soon after, the son of late NBA legend Bill Walton moved on to the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers before landing a gig as an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons. So, the 40-year-old California native has unsurprisingly decided to let go of his SoCal property.
Records show Walton and his longtime wife Bre have now offloaded their residence to Justin Solomon, a prominent investment funds partner in the L.A. and Bay Area offices of Kirkland & Ellis, for $10.3 million. Both sides of the deal were repped by Nick Schneider and Nathan Staggs of the of Schneider Properties Team at Compass.

Built in 2003 but extensively remodeled by the couple during their tenure, the gated stucco and terracotta-roof structure is hidden away on a sought-after private road and features seven bedrooms and eight baths in a little more than 10,000 square feet. Glitzy amenities include a bookshelf-clad office, a wet bar-equipped recreation room, a movie theater, a mirrored gym, a wine cellar speakeasy, and a space dedicated to gift wrapping.
Among the main-level highlights is a soaring entry foyer that has an eye-catching imperial staircase topped by a skylight. From there, a formal dining area holds court beneath a fancifully wallpapered ceiling and a fireside family room adjoins a gourmet kitchen outfitted with an eat-in island, top-tier stainless appliances, and a window-lined breakfast nook. Upstairs, a posh primary suite is decked out with a fireplace, a balcony, a walk-in closet with a separate area just for shoes, and a spa-like bath sporting dual vanities, a soaking tub, and a two-person shower.
Particularly standing out are the resort-like grounds, which span over a third of an acre and host a pool and spa with red and blue lights, a fire pit, and a barbecue station. There are also dual attached garages with room for up to four vehicles out front.
A former NBA player, Walton was originally drafted by the L.A. Lakers out of the University of Arizona in 2003 with the No. 32 overall pick. He went on to help the team snag two championships before he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2012 and then retired after one season. His coaching career began while he was still in the league, with the Lakers bringing him on as a development coach for the L.A. D-Fenders (now the South Bay Lakers). That was followed by coaching stints with the Golden State Warriors, Lakers, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s currently an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons.
