On the most recent episode of Boy Meets World rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, Norris joined hosts Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle for a deep dive into an episode from the beloved sitcom’s first season in which his character, nerdy overachiever Stuart Minkus, was featured prominently.

In preparation for their chat, Norris told the hosts that he re-watched the episode with his 6-year-old son.

“We live in North Carolina, and so we haven't really had this conversation with him yet of, ‘Oh, dad was on TV.' It just hasn't really come up,” Norris, 43, explained.

“He's getting to the age now, at 6, where I think he's starting to realize when we go out, sometimes people ask for a picture with dad. Maybe that's not totally normal,” he continued. “So I thought, ‘Okay, this is a good time to talk about it.’ So he actually sat down and watched the episode with me.”

Norris, who returned for a cameo in Boy Meets World’s fifth season and also reprised his role in the Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World reboot, said that watching the show with his son was “surreal and cool.” When Fishel asked if he saw any of his younger self in his kid, Norris flipped the script and explained how his son reminded him of Minkus.

“My wife and I were getting ready for bedtime or something, and he was looking at his books — we always do storytime at night, and this was before he'd seen Boy Meets World,” Norris recalled. “I can't even tell you what he was saying, but I just heard him, you know, out of the corner of my ear, say, ‘According to my calculations…’ And I just froze.”

“I don't know if I ever said that as Minkus …” Norris continued.

“But it’s such a Minkus line!” Strong jumped in.

“And his little voice sounds, you know, a lot like mine,” Norris added.

“Some things would happen and he would say, ‘Oh, Dada, that's not kind,’ ” Norris continued. “We’re trying to teach him about kindness, and so I would say, ‘Yep, you’re right. Not kind, but also kinda funny, and that's okay.’ ”
