The First-of-Its-Kind Reese's Cup We've Been Waiting for Is Finally Here
And we’re falling hard for it.
Holiday seasons come and go, but candy cravings never cease. Luckily, just as we’re polishing off the last of our Christmas sweets, Reese’s is swooping in with a brand-new treat to sweeten the post-holiday blues.
With all the Reese’s treats on shelves right now, from parfaits to baking mixes to popcorn snacks, you might think all the possible chocolate-peanut butter combos have been done. But, no—Reese’s never runs out of ideas. In fact, its latest creation is one fans are calling their “dream flavor,” featuring a first-ever spin on a classic Southern treat.
Reese’s Debuts Red Velvet Peanut Butter Cups
For Valentine’s Day 2025 (yes, already!), Reese’s is releasing Red Velvet Peanut Butter Cups. These limited-edition cups feature the brand’s signature chocolate and peanut butter combo, now with a layer of red velvet-flavored creme.
Now, we know what you’re thinking: isn’t red velvet just chocolate with food dye? Well, you’re not totally wrong. Red velvet typically has a cocoa flavor but with a tangy twist, thanks to ingredients like buttermilk or vinegar. So far, fans who’ve tried the red velvet creme say it’s “spot-on” in flavor.
“This is spectacular—I’d been hoping for a red velvet Reese’s flavor,” one fan shared.
Similar to the Werewolf Tracks candy released this past Halloween, the red velvet cups feature a split-layer design: red velvet creme on top and classic milk chocolate on the bottom. The cups will debut in miniatures, standard double-cup packs, and king-size four-cup packs.
While red velvet and cream cheese are a known match made in heaven, peanut butter might just be the dark horse we didn’t see coming. One fan is already planning the ultimate flavor pairing: “Gonna dip these in the new Philadelphia Cream Cheese Frosting.” Honestly? Genius.
We’d been keeping an eye out for these candies since the announcement was leaked on Instagram in mid-October. Now, lucky customers are finally spotting them in stores, even though the official limited-time release won’t roll out until January.
Fans already seem eager to stock up. “January can’t come soon enough,” someone commented. Another person simply said, “New Reese’s... count me in every time.”
Of course, Reese’s isn’t the only one getting festive for Valentine’s Day. Hershey’s is also releasing limited-edition Twizzlers and Kit Kat chocolate bears. And, with Reese’s Bark set to hit shelves in the next few weeks, 2025 is already shaping up to be a great year for candy lovers.
