First-Ever Bluey Movie to Hit Theaters in 2027 — Cartoon’s Creator Announces ‘Break’ From TV Series
Good news, sad news for Bluey fans.
BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company announced Tuesday that the beloved children’s television show is getting a CG-animated feature film, due out in 2027. Following a theatrical release, Bluey: The Movie will stream on Disney+.

The film will be written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, and feature the familiar voices of Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as Bluey’s mum and dad, Chilli and Bandit Heeler.
“I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that,” Brumm said in a statement. “I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”
Brumm would later announce on his blog that, speaking of “The Sign,” the XL episode now stands as the TV series’ finale. For now, at least.
“I always said I wouldn’t keep making the show if I thought I couldn’t make any new season as good as the last. This would have been the case for me with a potential Season 4, so I’ve decided to take a break from my involvement in the TV series,” Blumm wrote. “In the event I can’t wrap my head around doing more seasons myself, ‘The Sign’ will mark my TV finale for Bluey and I wrote it as such.”
Bluey movie plot details have not yet been disclosed. TVLine will keep parents (and kiddos alike) updated as we learn more. In the meantime, hit the comments and tell us if you’re looking forward to the Bluey movie.
