Will Ferrell Reveals His Bizarre Role in the O.J. Simpson Trial
Will Ferrell has opened up about the “oddest gig” he ever had as an actor—performing for the jurors at the O.J. Simpson trial.
Ferrell shared on The Graham Norton Show that he was doing improv at the Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles while the trial was going on.
“The jury was sequestered for a long time and couldn’t go anywhere, so someone came up with the idea of performing our sketch show for them in the court to lighten the mood,” Ferrell said.
Simpson, a former NFL star and actor, was tried and acquitted in 1995 for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.
“It was just us and the jurors. They seemed mildly entertained, but it was very bizarre,” Ferrell continued.
Reese Witherspoon was also appeared as a guest on the show alongside Ferrell to discuss their upcoming comedy movie, You’re Cordially Invited.
The actress shared her own experience in the court room.
Witherspoon, who famously starred as law student Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, shared that she was called to jury duty after the movie came out.
“When we went to deliberation and it came to choosing a foreman, the entire jury picked me,” Witherspoon said. “When I asked them why, they said it was because I went to law school!”
