In a round table discussion for International Women's Day yesterday with David Jones, Campbell spoke candidly with fellow inspirational Australian women, Greater Sydney Commission Lucy Turnbull, chef Christine Manfel and David Jones Director of Merchandise, Donna Player.

"When he was in care I was by myself for four weeks,' she said, when probed about handling the media scrutiny around the time.

"My family were all away, I did everything by myself," she continued.

"I did not drop one single one of my work commitments. I showed up. Sometimes I was a nervous wreck before showing up."

The model went on to say she had a David Jones work event and then that night, her manager expressed how worried she was about her.

"I actually had a David Jones appearance, the night before I had a reckoning," she told the ladies at the table.

"My manager wanted to take me to hospital I was that emotionally unstable."

"But I just had to keep on keeping, because it was, you know, I just had to do the best with what I had."

"I did it my way and I'm so glad I did it my way because I've come out so much stronger and better for it.

"I did that entire situation the way I needed to do it for myself and also the way it needed to be done for the person I was supporting."

Campbell also told the table about an upsetting comment she got from a woman on her Instagram account, berating her for how she dressed while accompanying Buddy to a Sydney Swans meeting over his mental health issues.

"It was the first time Bud had actually come out of care and it had been quite a long period of time and I had to take him to the Sydney Swans for a meeting," she said.

"And this girl absolutely blasted me - 'how dare you? You are disgusting! Look at the way you are dressed when you took him to the club! You obviously called the paparazzi and wanted to be photographed! You're using this to leverage your PR and you just look glamorous!'.

"And I was like, 'you know what? I'm just trying to do the absolute best I can'."

During the same discussion the fiery 24-year-old Gold Coast star said her manager advised her to wear more appropriate clothing while joining discussions around serious issues on TV.

"I got a call from my manager saying, 'You can't wear those kind of tops on TV when you're talking about such prominent issues. They show a little bit too much", and I said, 'Why can't I show my tits and have an opinion?'" she said.
