Derek Zoolander lands first Vogue cover with costar Penélope Cruz

Is there more to life than being really, really, really ridiculously good-looking?

For most of us, yes, but if you were the greatest supermodel of your generation premiering your Blue Steel pout on the cover of Vogue, then no.

Luckily for Ben Stiller, a.k.a. Derek Zoolander, US Vogue’s February 2016 issue is all about looks.

As we know too well, nothing is more important to the male model than pouting up a storm... not even his Center for Kids Who Can’t Read Good and Who Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too.

With Zoolander 2 around the corner, Vogue approached Derek Zoolander and his Spanish seductress costar Penélope Cruz to do their best Blue Steels, Magnums and Le Tigres for a spread in the magazine.

The stars, along with real-life supermodels Jourdan Dunn, Gigi Hadid, and Joan Smalls, are ridiculously good-looking in the photos, which are comical re-creations of iconic fashion campaigns.

While the US Vogue shoot was shot in a day in a loft on the Brooklyn waterfront in New York, Zoolander 2 was filmed over three-and-a-half months in 2015 in Rome.

In the sequel, Cruz, a.k.a. Valentina Valencia, plays a motorcycle-riding special fashion agent who seeks the help of retired model and selfie expert Derek Zoolander to solve a European murder mystery involving celebrities and of course, selfies.

He reunites with his male model in crime: Hansel, Owen Wilson, and they inevitably tango with evil fashion kingpin Mugatu, played by none other than Will Ferrell.

In the original Zoolander film 15 years back, we saw model Milla Jovovich, actors Jerry Stiller and David Duchovny and even American presidential candidate Donald Trump.

This can only mean one thing: that Zoolander 2 appearances will be big, really big.

Get excited to see Kristen Wiig as Donatella Versace, Benedict Cumberbatch as the new model-of-the-moment, Justin Bieber, Lenny Kravitz, Marc Jacobs and Macaulay Culkin as themselves, Kim Kardashian-West and the list goes on.

Stiller tells Vogue Zoolander is more about its characters than it is a satire of fashion, and luckily its comical portrayal of the industry’s quirks has been received with laughter by all, including Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld.

If these serious-faced fashionistas cracked a laugh to the first film, there's no doubt Zoolander 2 will leave us rolling on the floor in hysterics and hopefully with new lines that will keep us going for a lifetime.

Zoolander 2 premiers in Australian cinemas on February 11.
