The fashion blogger and wife of Jimmy Bartel posted several photos of her bump progress, detailing her journey so far.

While the star has enjoyed a "textbook" pregnancy, she also said she'd been saddened to experience body shaming.

"I have noticed that being pregnant opens up women to a whole new world of criticism," Bartel wrote. "I can imagine this is only going to get worse once the baby arrives as our parenting will then be scrutinised.

"Before getting pregnant (and now), I would never even think to comment on a lady's bump size, (other than to think how beautiful it is). Or to judge her on what she is eating, wearing or how much she is working. Each to their own! I have had so many rude comments from strangers on the street telling me that my bump isn't big enough and if the doctor is okay with it?? These same strangers have also accused me of not eating enough and stating I am not the 'normal' size."

Bartel went on to add that she'd gained 17 kilograms so far, and was definitely in the 'normal' range.

"I brought this up with my amazing OB and he assured me, I am totally normal," said Bartel. "Our baby has always scanned larger than the size it is meant to be. When will people realise we are all made differently, and that's what's make us all unique."

Fortunately, Bartel has a good perspective on the situation, saying there was always going to be haters out there.

"I never take too much notice of the negative comments," Bartel commented. "There will always be haters out there, and I don't like to give that negative energy airtime. Being a first time Mum does change the game as I started doubting if my pregnancy is normal because everything you are experiencing is new."

Sadly, Bartel is hardly the first star to suffer this kind of criticism.

In July, actress Jaime King detailed the hurtful body shaming comments she'd received while pregnant.

"People have made comments about how I'm too thin and need to eat a sandwhich," King told American Baby magazine.

"I've seen it happen with other pregnant women in this business too - we're either too thin or put on too much weight," she said.

"But every woman's body is different. All that matters is that you're taking care of the nutrition for yourself and your child."

Amen to that!
