Lady Gaga Has Us Seeing Red at Super Bowl 50

The last time we saw Lady Gaga, she was channeling an Old Hollywood bombshell in a sultry, corseted Versace gown at the Golden Globes. So, would she pull a similar style situation to sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl 50?

In short… nope—not one iota.

The multi-talented singer and actress, 29, showed up for the landmark gig at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California dressed more like a patriotic Spice Girl than Marilyn Monroe. Her outfit consisted of a glittery red suit and sky-high stars-and-stripes platforms boots, complimented by red glitter eye shadow, blue nails, a swept back blonde bouffant, and some giant diamonds.

But in spite of her tacky getup, Gaga absolutely slayed the performance—hitting every note out of the park (I know, wrong sport!) and belting it out to the high heavens. “I’ve always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl,” she recently told NFL.com, explaining that she grew up rewatching her favorite singers performing the song.

Clearly, her dedication paid off. And it’s got to be said: Whitney would be proud.
