Fans Say Joan Collins ‘Nailed’ Shocking Style Transformation for Special Occasion

Joan Collins looked absolutely spooktacular in a video that she shared for Halloween on Thursday, Oct. 31.

The English actress posted throwback footage of herself sitting in a makeup chair while preparing to film a scene for Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story. Collins, now 91, appeared in the popular horror TV anthology’s eighth season, which was released in the fall of 2018 under the subtitle Apocalypse.

In the video, the soap opera star sat calmly as makeup was applied to her face. Collins noticeably had what looked like two nails sticking out of her head—one just below her right eye on her cheek, and another in her forehead.

“I’ve been killed by the nails,” Collins said of her character as the makeup artist continued working. She went on to explain that touches of red makeup were being added to create the illusion that her character had also been injured by shards of glass.

The Dynasty star kept the caption for her Instagram video short, using just three hashtags to provide additional context: “#happyhalloween #deathbynails #americanhorrorstory.”

The footage unsurprisingly inspired a wave of “nailed it” jokes from fans.

“Joan? YOU NAILED IT 😂❤️ Like literally 😂,” one person wrote as another agreed, writing, “You nailed it Joan!!! Xx👻.”

“What can I say? You nailed it!! 🤣🎃❤️,” another fan echoed as one Instagram user praised the makeup artist, writing, “Makeup nailed this one! 😉.”

“Only you could make a nail to the face look chic 🙌,” one fan declared.

Others argued that, despite the gruesome makeup, it would be “impossible” for Collins “not to look beautiful.”

“You can try to make her look unglamorous but it won’t work ! She is gorgeous, it’s impossible to make her look otherwise,” one person commented.

“Dame Joan, only you can make horror look so macabrely ‘glamorous’ and your take on hideousness is a masterpiece. 🎬🖤,” another person agreed.
