As a society, there’s no denying our love for ketchup. From children to adults of all ages, ketchup just might be the single-most popular condiment in existence. Ask any kid just what they like to put on their eggs, mac ‘n cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches, and their answer will likely be ketchup. But let's be honest, kids will put ketchup on just about anything, which clearly speaks to the effectiveness of this now iconic condiment.

Whether or not you believe ketchup deserves the hype it has garnered over the years, there’s no reason to deny it’s popularity. So when one of the biggest names in the condiment game steps up to the plate with a brand-new creation, you better believe fans are going to come out in droves to get a taste. Which brings us to an especially exciting announcement shared on Instagram by @heinz, one that teases viewers with an all-new Heinz Chip Dip.

“Try dipping a chip in ketchup. Seriously. Chips are basically the same as fries, so we think Heinz should be a chip dip,” the legendary condiment brand captioned their post online. The limited-edition chip dip, which can currently be purchased online at Walmart, is being packaged in a special-edition chip dip jar along with everything you need to get dipping. The entire package retails for $5.70 and comes with potato chips and a bottle of Heinz ketchup to boot.

For those wondering about the flavor, Heinz promises the “same signature thick and rich taste of Heinz Ketchup, made with red, ripe and juicy tomatoes,” however, now in chip dip form.

“I’ve been doing this for years,” one commenter wrote, suggesting they’ve been dipping their chips directly into Heinz original ketchup. “I’ve been waiting for ketchup chips to become a thing here in the US for decades,” another wrote, “ketchup is so good on potato chips!”

While the excitement is still palpable surrounding this limited-edition release, it is important to note that Heinz Chip Dip is not yet a permanent offering. It’s likely that the brand is testing the waters with their new creation, however we can’t imagine a world where this idea does not take off. Because as others have said, for some, this is an idea over 20 years in the making.
