The Exes From Netflix’s “Worst Ex Ever”: Where Are They Now?
The Netflix true crime docuseries, 'Worst Ex Ever,' features four couples whose romances ended with arrests
Netflix’s true-crime docuseries Worst Ex Ever has audiences contemplating the question: Can you ever really know someone?
The series, which premiered in August 2024, was created by the same team that produced Worst Roommates Ever and features four hour-long episodes about four couples whose relationships turned lethal.
Viewers meet Benjamin Foster who kidnapped and tortured his girlfriend; Jerry Ramrattan who framed his partner for armed robbery; Rosa Hill who murdered her husband’s grandmother; and Kevin Lewis who hired his cousin to kill his wife.
“It certainly makes you think about what people are capable of and the amount of time that some people invest in messing with and hurting other people rather than putting their energy into something good,” director and executive producer Cynthia Childs told TV Guide. “That's always hard for me to wrap my head around.”
So what happened to the criminals on Worst Ex Ever? Here’s everything to know about where the exes are now.
Benjamin Foster
Episode 1, titled “Dating the Devil,” introduces audiences to Benjamin Foster — a man with an extensive criminal record and a history of harming women.
After moving from Nevada to Oregon, Foster began a relationship with Justine Siemens. She eventually exposed his violent past, and Foster retaliated by torturing her for three days in January 2023.
Foster went on the run — wanted for attempted murder, assault and kidnapping — and evaded the police for several days before being found. But rather than turn himself over to authorities, he shot himself in the head and was declared dead at the hospital, per NBC News.
Jerry Ramrattan
Viewers meet Jerry Ramrattan in episode 2, “Betrayed by the Badge.” Ramrattan and Seemona Sumasar dated for two years before she found out he had a wife and three kids.
Following their break up in 2009, Ramrattan raped Seemona and later turned himself in when a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to CNN. After he was released on bond, he impersonated a police officer and framed her for a series of armed robberies she didn’t commit but was arrested and indicted for in 2010.
Seemona spent seven months behind bars before an informant was able to prove to the Nassau County District Attorney’s office that she’d been framed.
In January 2012, Ramrattan was convicted on charges of rape in the first degree, perjury in the first degree, tampering with a witness in the third degree, among other crimes, per CNN.
He was sentenced to more than 21 years in prison and is currently incarcerated at the Eastern New York Correctional Facility, where he’ll remain until he’s up for parole in December 2031, according to his inmate record.
Rosa Hill
“Killing for Custody,” episode 3, details the story of Rosa Hill and her husband, Eric Hill, who welcomed a daughter in 2006 but split the following year. Afterward, Eric gained primary physical and legal custody of the child, which seemingly sent Rosa into a blind rage.
In 2009, Rosa murdered Eric’s 91-year-old grandmother, Selma “Sally” Hill, CBS News reported. She and her mother, Mei Li, then attacked Eric when he returned home with the child, per the outlet.
Two years later, Rosa and Mei were convicted of first-degree murder and the premeditated attempted murder of Eric. Mei’s murder charge was overturned in 2015 after Rosa testified that her mom had nothing to do with Sally’s death. However, Mei’s attempted murder charge still stands, and the two are currently serving life sentences.
Kevin Lewis
The final episode of Worst Ex Ever, titled “Married to a Monster,” tells the story of Amanda Canales’ relationship with Kevin Lewis. After Canales asked for a divorce in 2016, Lewis attacked her several times before she secured a protection order.
Lewis then hired his cousin, Jerradon Phelps, who teamed up with his teenage friend Alexis Hale to kill Canales, according to The Everett Herald. But the criminal pair murdered Canales’ sister, Alisha, instead. At the time, Canales was on a business trip, and Alisha was staying at her house to babysit.
After the 2017 murder, the case went cold until authorities received a tip, leading to Phelps and Hale's arrests in 2020. They were both convicted of premeditated first-degree murder and are serving 31 years and 15 years in prison, respectively. As for Lewis, he was convicted of aggravated first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with no parole.
