Exclusive: This Hamptons Rental Is Asking $1.2 Million for the Summer

How much does a Hamptons summer rental cost? Well, if you’re looking to rent this brand-new estate in the Water Mill area, you’d better be prepared to drop eight figures—and that’s just for the summer season. Spread out over 42 landscaped acres, the European-style spread was designed and constructed by luxury home builder Jeffrey Collé. Altogether, the palatial mansion spans 18,000 square feet and comprises seven bedrooms and seven and a half baths.

According to the listing, which is held by Susan Breitenbach at Corcoran, tenants will have to fork over $1.2 million if they want the place for the full summer season, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. If someone prefers a shorter stay, say July 1st to Labor Day, the price dips to $1 million. And, if a year-round retreat is what’s on the menu, the impressive property can be had for $1.7 million, which is kind of a steal for a 12-month lease.

The Water Mill residence offers spacious, sun-filled rooms with elegant fittings and finishes.

Inside, the swanky abode feels akin to a French chateau with lavish furnishings, massive stone fireplaces, charmingly rustic details, and “tranquil views for every level. And, of course, it comes fully furnished.

The gourmet kitchen is fit for a professional or amateur chef, with a La Cornue stove, two dishwashers, and two Sub-Zero refrigerators. There’s also a slew of top-of-the-line custom cabinetry accented with leaded panes and hand-blown glass for a deluxe touch.

There are antique fireplaces throughout.

Other highlights include a screened-in porch, a formal dining room, and a stunning primary suite. The latter comes with a private sitting area (or an office, if you need it), an antique fireplace, dual closets, and a marble bath.

Naturally, there are a ton of amenities, including a 2,000-square-foot garage that can accommodate up to four cars and a fully finished lower level with soaring 10-foot ceilings.

The grounds feature a heated swimming pool and pool house.

The grounds are perfect for relaxing and whitling away summer afternoons. That is, if you’re not at the beach. There’s 1,500 square feet of terracing around the 50-foot heated swimming pool and pool house, along with a sunken tennis court for getting a bit more active. And, with a 2,000-square-foot, six-stall barn, equestrians can bring their equine pets, too.

With spring right around the corner, the Hamptons real estate market is already heating up, with renters and buyers planning ahead for the summer season. Buyer contracts are on the rise; however, inventory is still low, so renting might not be a bad option until the right opportunity comes along.
