EXCLUSIVE: Formula 1 Driver Pierre Gasly Fronts Gentleman Givenchy Franchise

PARIS — Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly is the new ambassador for Gentleman Givenchy men’s fragrance franchise.

“To me, Givenchy epitomizes both timeless elegance and boldness,” Gasly said. “In my opinion, the brand represents the art of self-assertion and pushing yourself further — a perfect match with my own lifestyle and philosophy.

“Also, joining the Givenchy Gentleman Society felt like a natural fit for me because it aligns with my personal views: the goal of having a positive impact and rallying people around values like respect, open-mindedness, passion and integrity,” he continued. “Being a gentleman today also means inspiring and uniting people through broadening horizons and innovation.”

Gasly in 2019 became the youngest Frenchman to take a Formula 1 podium. The next year, he had his first victory in Monza, during the Italian Gran Prix. Then in 2024, during his second season with the BWT Alpine F1 Team, it came close to a 10th-place rank in the overall Driver Standings. Gasly also helped his team hit sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship, most notably through a fifth podium finish in the Brazilian Grand Prix in São Paulo.

The 29-year-old driver began competing at an early age, starting with kart-racing and later moving to single-seaters. He had successes, especially in the Formula Renault Eurocup and GP2 Series, and then debuted in the Formula 1 World Championship during the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix.

Talents who front Gentleman Givenchy are meant to have a timeless gentleman-like quality as well as a modern-day resonance.

“When we met Pierre Gasly, we had a very great connection,” said Romain Spitzer, chief executive officer of Givenchy Parfums, adding the driver’s authenticity echoes the brand’s. “He’s cool, stylish and effortlessly elegant.”

Further, the French athlete strives for excellence, and “has a great winning spirit, which is very important,” Spitzer said. “He’s inspiring, has a very positive personality and is very generous.”

The Gentleman Society franchise, begun in 2023, has been fronted by “exceptional personalities,” added Spitzer, describing them as having core values of boldness, respect and commitment.

Gasly has a strong international fan base. On social media, he counts 6 million followers, of which 5.5 million are on Instagram.

Overall, F1 drivers’ fans’ average age is less than 32 years old, and women account for 40 percent, according to Spitzer.

Gasly himself is a fragrance afficionado.

“I wear fragrance on a daily basis and perfume myself several times a day, whether in the morning, afternoon or evening,” he said. “I even put some on right before going to sleep.”

Perfume goes beyond olfaction.

“Fragrance, for me, means self-confidence, energy and well-being. It’s a signature that expresses my style,” Gasly said. “I love fragrances that are both unexpected and memorable, with a strong, consistent personality, which is why I love the new Gentleman Society Eau de Parfum Ambrée. The richness and balance between its different floral, woody, ambery and [spicy] notes adds a lot of personality and self-confidence, and leaves a memorable feeling of sensuality.”

The fragrance, created by Takasago perfumer Karine Dubreuil Sereni, contains notes including Peru balsam, opopanax, Tasuki vanilla from Madagascar, leather, tobacco and sandalwood.

Gasly will appear in the campaign for Gentleman Society Eau de Parfum Ambrée, which is launching worldwide this month. A 100-ml. eau de parfum is priced at around 136 euros.

Gentleman is Givenchy’s second-largest fragrance franchise, behind L’Interdit.

“We have great ambition,” Spitzer said. “We should be as high as [Gasly’s] top positions.”

Gentleman launched in 1975, so this year marks its 50th anniversary.

Beside scent, Gasly is fully now focused on the new Formula 1 season, which begins in March.

“Preparing for a new season starts with resetting both physically and mentally,” he said. “Physically, I follow an intensive training program tailored to build strength, endurance, and adaptability because F1 demands peak fitness. Mentally, it’s about focus and confidence.”
