Ewan McGregor Reveals the Sweet Way He Acknowledged a Fan Who Noticed Him Undercover at Disneyland
Ewan McGregor and wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead have wandered the ‘Star Wars’ area of the theme park incognito
Ewan McGregor is recalling clandestine trips to Disneyland — and its eagle-eyed Star Wars fans.
During a panel at MegaCon in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday, the 52-year-old actor — who has played Obi-Wan Kenobi in a galaxy far, far away since 1999 — said he and wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead have gone undercover to visit the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge section.
While at the California theme park, “it was just me and Mary walking around — you know, with a cap on,” he recalled onstage.
McGregor added that the famous pair, who have been dating since 2017 and tied the knot in 2022, “went at night” incognito. For the most part, he said, they had “just about got away with it.”
But when the Emmy winner “caught a couple of people’s eye” who clearly noticed an iconic Jedi Master among the park’s attendees, he winked at them.
Reenacting such a wink for the MegaCon crowd, fans cheered the Scottish star.

During the panel, McGregor also recalled reuniting with Hayden Christensen to film Obi-Wan Kenobi, the hit Disney+ series centered on his heroic character following the events of 2005 prequel installment Revenge of the Sith.
“When we got on set, I mean, I've never seen so many people on a film set in my life,” he said. “Because everybody was there to see him!”

Reprising his role as Obi-Wan opposite Christensen as Anakin Skywalker again “was an amazing experience, of course,” McGregor added. “We were in the old costumes and then we were doing that fight. That was just great.”
Of his “fraternal” relationship with Christensen, 42, he recalled filming 2002’s Attack of the Clones in Australia. “We were very close when we shot the prequels,” said McGregor, who starred alongside Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson, Samuel L. Jackson and more in the George Lucas-led prequel trilogy.
At another MegaCon panel featuring Star Wars talent, Christensen revealed his daughter Briar Rose “still hasn't seen” the film franchise.
“There have been a few times where I've actually offered it up and I've said, 'Sweetheart, would you like to watch Star Wars?' ” the Canadian actor shared.
“There's always something else that she's more interested in," he continued. "We're watching a lot of this show called Liv and Maddie right now, So, every time I bring it up, she's like, 'Let's watch Liv and Maddie, please.' ”
McGregor will next appear in the film Bleeding Love, which will debut in theaters on Feb. 16 and costars his daughter Clara.
