Eva Longoria might have played a former fashion model turned fashionista suburban housewife on Desperate Housewives, but she’s revealing that she and her beloved character Gabrielle “Gabby” Solis didn’t exactly see eye to eye when it came to their outfits. In an interview with The Sunday Times published on February 23, the Eva Longoria: Searching For Spain star admitted that she coveted another Wisteria Lane resident’s closet–and would even “steal” items from their wardrobe.

“Gaby had crazy outfits and I didn’t want any of them,” Longoria told the publication about her character’s signature designer Y2K outfits, which included a parade of Juicy Couture tracksuits, bold halterneck going out tops, and slinky slip dresses.

“They would put clothes on me and I was like, ‘Meh,’” the actress shared. “There was a lot of leopard print. I’m about classic styles and comfort, so I tend to be a little more muted in my style.”

Instead, co-star Teri Hatcher, who played her neighbor and friend Susan Mayer on the long-running series, had a much more quiet luxury-coded aesthetic that appealed to Longoria’s style in real life.

“I used to steal Teri Hatcher’s clothes,” she revealed. “When the show wrapped, I went into Teri’s closet because she didn’t want anything and it was all cashmere sweaters, which was much more my vibe.”

Longoria, who called out the show's many "iconic outfits" in a sweet 20th anniversary post last October, had some help figuring out her personal sense of style after the show wrapped. Longoria revealed that she took inspiration from several fashionable women in her family, telling the publication that her “well-traveled” and “glamorous” aunt gave her a role model to look up to. “My aunt was well-traveled and always wore a scarf and perfume,” she shared.

The Hyphenate Media Group owner also called out former Posh Spice Victoria Beckham as her ultimate “style icon,” explaining, “I aspire to be like her one day, and I never will.”
