The Internet Is Having A Field Day Now That Republicans Seemingly Believe That Democrats Control The Weather
Two weeks after Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Milton has slammed Florida — and people on the internet are talking about Democrats controlling the weather.
You're probably wondering which genius came up with this conspiracy theory. Well, believe it or not, it comes from a sitting Congress member! Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene (I bet you believe it now).
Last week, she shared a map of the areas affected by Hurricane Helene overlaid with an electoral map.

Then, she shared another tweet, writing, "Yes they can control the weather."
Yes they can control the weather. It’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done.

She only wrote "they," but it's assumed she meant the Democrats/the government.
It became such a big topic of discussion that President Biden even shot down her theory on TV. "Marjorie Taylor Greene, the congresswoman from Georgia, is now saying the federal government is literally controlling the weather, we’re controlling the weather," he said. "It’s beyond ridiculous. It’s so stupid. It’s got to stop."
When she first shared her bright idea, people naturally made jokes about the absurdity of it all. And now that Hurricane Milton has caused so much damage, X (formerly called Twitter) is filled with people talking about the Democrats' supposed secret power.
Some people referenced the OG weather machine aka the one from Disney Channel Original Movie The Ultimate Christmas Present:

This person connected a bunch of conservative conspiracies...
Personally, I believe the democrat weather machine is powered by 5g vaccine nanobots that get their energy from drag queen story time.

...while this person made a great point:
A question: if the Democrats are controlling the weather, does that make Gawd a Democrat?

Lawmaker Jared Moskowitz pointed out that if the government controls the weather machine, uh, that would mean Trump did, too:
Disaster misinformation and FEMA conspiracy theories have reached dangerous levels. Maybe MTG, the head of the Mensa Caucus, can answer why did this “weather machine” she believes in cause damage during Trump’s presidency? Why didn’t he turn it off? pic.twitter.com/UssEGpbvTe

A lot of folks made requests:
Kindly requesting that the democrat in charge of the weather turn down the thermostat for Arizona in exchange for going blue this election
— Joey (@joeyAZ94) October 9, 2024
Y'all know which California Democrat is in charge of controlling the weather there on Saturday??
— Covie (@covie_93) October 9, 2024
This person explained why the weather machine actually hasn't been turned on yet:
yes, the left has a weather machine, but it’s never been fired because we cant decide on a woke enough hurricane name

This person had some excellent questions:
You think it’s funny? The Dems built a weather machine for the sole purpose of launching hurricanes at Catturd’s house multiple times a year, and you think it’s funny? pic.twitter.com/cphnTjRaKg

Some people just shook their heads:
Absolutely incredible that after decades of scientists warning of climate change and terrible hurricanes…. People are now blaming … weather machines… for the climate changing and terrible hurricanes
— Astro Alexandra 🪐 Space Communicator (@astro_alexandra) October 8, 2024
Climate change is not real because there’s no evidence to support it, which is why you should instead believe my more plausible explanation, weather machines

And finally, Jared said what we're all thinking:
Moskowitz: We have Marjorie Taylor Greene who runs the Mensa caucus talking about a weather machine. If there are aliens watching and looking at all of this, they can definitely confirm there is no intelligent life in congress with Greene talking about a weather machine pic.twitter.com/C6QKeO6mDb
