Emmys 2020: Red carpet fashion from the 'virtual' awards
It’s no secret that this year’s Emmy Awards have gone slightly off-script due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with bustling red carpets and jam-packed theatre halls out of the question due to social distancing restrictions.
The coronavirus-era adjustments to TV’s night of nights include host Jimmy Kimmel cracking jokes to an audience-less studio in LA’s Staples Centre while the A-listers themselves watch on from somewhere we rarely get to see: inside their homes.
Some stars followed the suggestion to ‘make an effort,’ as per an email to nominees obtained by Variety, with Tracee Ellis Ross even going the extra mile to create a homemade red carpet.
Others have done away with the glitz and glam and instead stayed in their PJs to stream the ceremony from their couches. Actors, hey? They’re just like us!
Below we’ve compiled pics of those stars who’ve gone the whole nine yards as well as those who have kept it comfy and casual for what is no doubt the most unusual Emmys we’ve ever seen — and a sign of award shows to come.
Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton
Reese donned a black Louis Vuitton number featuring bows on the shoulder and a bright pink lip to celebrate this year’s awards from her backyard.
“Shortest #Emmys commute yet!” the Legally Blonde star joked on Instagram. “Bringing the festivities to my lawn and excited to celebrate the incredible cast and crews of @themorningshow, @biglittlelies and @littlefireshulu tonight!”
