Emma reveals truth behind her split with Wiggles co-star Lachy
After two years of marriage, Wiggles stars Emma Watkins and Lachlan Gillespie called time on their love story last month.
It was an announcement that sent shockwaves through their fanbase, but the pair’s decision to split was not as sudden as it appeared to outsiders, with Emma revealing that she “fell out of love a little bit” before she and her co-star decided to part ways.
At the time, 28-year-old Emma had been dealing with a number of health concerns which culminated in her needing to undergo surgery for endometriosis.
She told the Gold Coast Bulletin it was a “weird time” for the couple, and they ultimately decided they were better off as friends.
“We are not really cranky at each other, we just realised that our situation had changed,” she said, “probably more from me, than from him.”
The Yellow Wiggle added that she took the first steps towards the split.
“I wanted to make the decision to separate,” she said. “I am very independent and my mum keeps telling me that no one is going to be able to tell me what to do.”
Thank you for all the well wishes 💕 Operation went well and now in recovery 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Emma had been in a lot of pain from endometriosis over the past years and also had a leukaemia scare. By the time she needed to go in for endometriosis surgery in April this year, she and Lachy were already well into a trial separation.
Lachy had moved out of their shared home in February, and six months later in August, they officially announced they would be splitting.
In a joint statement the pair said they were embracing the “very positive change in [their] relationship”.

“We have chosen a different path to travel in our personal lives,” they said, “but please know that we are stronger than ever and we can’t wait to see you at a show soon.”
On Wednesday Emma made her first solo red carpet appearance since the announcement when she attended the Women’s Weekly’s Women of the Future event.
Dressed in red, she smiled for cameras and wore a pretty flower crown made of spring roses.
Last month, an unnamed friend of Emma and Lachy’s claimed that their marriage appeared to be on shaking ground from day one, telling Woman’s Day, “I know the cracks started to appear almost immediately.”
“I think Em wanted this marriage for such a long time that it was always going to be hard to live up to the dream.
“Ultimately, the fairytale just didn’t match up with the reality.”
