Emily in Paris’ Ashley Park Recovering From ‘Critical Septic Shock’ as Season 4 Begins Production

Emily in Paris’ Ashley Park, who plays singer Mindy Chen on the Netflix comedy, is recuperating from a harrowing health emergency that left her in critical septic shock, the actress revealed on Instagram on Friday.

“As I sit here processing and recovering from the first few weeks of 2024, the only word I can think of is grateful. While on holiday in December into New Years, what started as tonsillitis spiraled into critical septic shock, which infected and affected several of my organs,” Park shared alongside several hospital photos and videos of herself and Emily in Paris co-star Paul Forman (aka Mindy’s love interest Nicholas), who was on vacation with her.

She went on to thank Forman “for being unconditionally by my side through all this.”

“You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know,” Park continued. “I love you Paul. More than I can ever say.”

Park also expressed gratitude for “every doctor and ICU nurse who worked tirelessly” and “my personal team of heroes at home who were on calls with insurance, Paul, my parents, and doctors at all hours (you know who you are).”

Park concluded her post by admitting that she “hesitated to share what’s been happening as I’m still in the throes of recovery…but I now know I’m safely on the other side of the worst,” she wrote, adding that “I’m healing and I promise I’m gonna be okay.”

Emily in Paris star Lily Collins commented on Park’s post with the following message: “I can hardly look at these without crying. I love you sister and I’m forever grateful you’re on the other side of this and for @peforman for your incredibly huge heart and for being there every step of the way. I cannot wait to hug you both”

On Friday, Collins shared on her own Instagram that Emily in Paris has begun production on Season 4 in France.

“Did someone say Saison Quatre?! Finally reunited with my @emilyinparis fam back in Paris and it feels so good,” Collins wrote besides a selfie of herself and the premiere script.

It’s not clear yet if Park’s role on the upcoming season will be impacted. TVLine has reached out to reps for Emily in Paris and Park for comment.
