Emily P. Wheeler Just Launched a Vintage Jewelry Collection at Bergdorf Goodman

Los Angeles-based designer, Emily P. Wheeler, has made a name for herself with cool and very of-the-moment high fine jewelry in pops of edgy color. Now, she’s making a play for the vintage market with jewels in-line with her personal taste.

There are two facets to the collection: one for straightforward vintage signed pieces and one for vintage pieces that have been reworked by Wheeler for a modern update. She spent the last decade scouring the secondary market for covetable and collectable pieces from the ’60s, ’70’s, and ’80s. You’ll find everything from a chunky and versatile solid gold hoop earrings from Tiffany & Co. to a rare Bulgari necklace with links made of carved gemstones from the ’70s. There are also one-of-a-kind stunners like a Hemmerle necklace set in an 18-karat yellow articulate chain with a sapphire heart pendant surrounded by diamonds. Unsigned eye-catchers include an 18-karat yellow gold and turquoise snake cuff accented with rubies and diamonds or a pair of 8-carat heart-shaped ruby earrings with diamonds in an invisible setting.

“As a fan of all things vintage, clothes, furniture, and jewelry, this new launch was a natural extension of the brand for me,” says Wheeler in a press statement. “I love mixing old with new, which you see reflected in my home, how I dress, and with my jewelry. I am inherently a nostalgic person and started collecting vintage jewelry about ten years ago for myself, as I loved pairing pieces from different eras with my newer designs.”

As a creative, Wheeler naturally couldn’t resist putting her own spin on some pieces. In the reworked vintage collection you’ll find a necklace recreated from antique European-cut diamond tennis necklaces and bracelets set in a Victorian collet setting and accented with e-coating in pops of purple, pink, and blue. Other highlights include a choker necklace made from various vintage pearl strands paired with three heart-shaped gemstones or a necklace made of restrung Arizona turquoise rondelle’s topped off with a ’70s gold and diamond heart pendant.

Ultimately, Wheeler says the pieces are an extension of her commitment to sustainability. For her new pieces under her label she also uses Single Mine Origin gold and recycled precious metal. The collection is exclusively available at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City and at the Emily P. Wheeler showroom in Los Angeles. Vintage pieces are independently verified and a full guarantee is provided with purchase.
