It’s been more than two decades since Elizabeth Hurley first stepped onto a red carpet bearing lots of skin in a black Versace dress featuring risqué cutouts held together by gold safety pins.

Now, 25 years later, the 53-year-old actress is slipping back into a reimagined version of the same dress — and looking just as striking as before.

Hurley wore a version of the dress for a feature in the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

And although she told the publication that the pre-fall 2019 collection piece is a “more demure” interpretation of what she once wore, Hurley still manages to pull off a number of cutouts in the updated number while paying homage to the piece that skyrocketed her career.

“I was so unprepared for what happened that night,” Hurley said of the 1994 Four Weddings and a Funeral premiere that she attended as Hugh Grant’s date.

“I urgently needed to find a dress to wear for Hugh’s premiere, and in those days I had no idea about fashion.”

Luckily, she was given a contact for a public relations agency that would eventually lend her something to wear.

When the dress was presented to her in a white plastic bag, however, she didn’t realise just what impact it would have on her life.

Now, Hurley has become synonymous with glamour and represents the type of recognition and success that can come from a standout red carpet moment.

Although she’s since moved on to striking bikini photoshoots.
