Eleven Madison Park Alum Angela Pinkerton Just Opened a New Bakery and Cafe in the Hudson Valley
A James Beard Award winner for her time at Eleven Madison Park, Angela Pinkerton has popped up once again in New York—but not the city.
Pinkerton has just debuted her namesake cafe and bakery in Kingston, New York, just up the Hudson River from Manhattan. Pinkerton’s is her return to the East Coast, after she decamped for San Francisco, where she joined the Che Fico team to serve up baked goods to tech bros and families alike. Best known for her pies, Pinkerton is offering those here, along with an expanded pastry menu, breakfast and brunch items, cookies, and more.

All day long, you can indulge in both sweet and savory pastries, spanning pecan sticky buns with caramel glaze and candied pecans to jalapeno monkey bread with aged cheddar and spicy peppers. Heartier fare includes a scrambled egg breakfast sandwich on a house-made English muffin, veggie quiche, and chicken pot pie topped with a scallion biscuit. Next month, the locale plans to add lunch items like sandwiches and salads to the menu as well.
When it comes to the pies, Pinkerton has imported some favorites from her former S.F. shop Pie Society. The star of the opening menu is a passionfruit meringue pie with bay-leaf custard and a homemade graham-cracker crust. There are other fruity options, too, such as a pear plum crumb pie with local farmed fruit. If a richer slice is more your jam, the mud pie features whipped chocolate pudding, hazelnut brownie, and coffee whipped cream. The display case with other sweet treats like tiramisu, chocolate chip cookies, and ginger snaps with yuzu glaze acts as both a display of Pinkerton’s wares and decor.
The 1920s building in which Pinkerton’s is located was originally a service station, but it transitioned into a bakery in the 2000s. Pinkerton and her team have reimagined the 1,700-square-foot space with windows that let in natural light, while retaining much of the vintage feel. There’s room for 20 to dine in, or you can take your pastries to go—plus some of Pinkerton’s Cheeto Treats, dog treats named after her own pup.
Currently open Friday through Monday, the bakery will soon expand its hours. It’s a welcome return back east for Pinkerton, although fans of her baking in N.Y.C. will now have to hop in the car and make the drive up from the city—a weekend excursion well worth your time.
