Doritos Fans Are Divided Over New Limited-Edition Chef Collab Flavor

Doritos is rolling out a new limited-edition flavor that was created in collaboration with a trio of chefs, but fans are conflicted.

The new Spicy Tropical Fusion flavor has fans saying they need to try it before they can decide if they love or hate the flavor combinations.

Food blogger Junk Food Junction reports that the flavor “features a combination of red chilies, pineapple and jerk spice” and was made in conjunction with chefs Minh Phat, Siobhan Detkavich, and Andre Bhagwandat.

“even if reviews are in. I still need to try 😂,” said one commenter, while another appeared to have tried them and not liked them, writing, “They're not great.”

The flavor is currently only available in Canada, prompting American fans to voice their disappointment in the comments. “I hope it’s [sic] comes to the USA in all Walmarts,” said one commenter.

Bhagwandat shared that the Doritos flavor was a collaboration that “brings three chefs together to create a new fusion of flavor, inspired by their culinary heritage.”

The Masterchef Canada alum continued, writing, “pulling inspiration from their countries of origin countries, we developed a design system that fused the iconic Doritos triangle logo, traditional colours, and native florals of the regions to tell their story.”

Comments on this post were more positive, with fans writing in to congratulate the chef. “No way!!!! Sooo cool Andre! Can’t wait to see and try it,” said one fan. Another shared the sentiment, writing, “Ummm for real?!?!? 🤯 so cool! Love me some Doritos and this sounds bomb !!!”

Though there’s no telling if these Doritos will make it stateside, another flavor is making its way to the U.S. shortly and fans are very excited about the news.

Last month, the snack food giant revealed that it’s bringing back the fan-favorite discontinued Guacamole flavor after a nearly 20-year hiatus.

The chips, which were introduced in 2003 and discontinued in 2006, are slated to make it onto store shelves in 2025.
