Donald Trump's Daughter Ivanka's Inauguration Day 2025 Outfit Compared to 'Handmaid's Tale' Character

Ivanka Trump put on a chic display with her outfit on Monday, Jan. 20, as she attended her father Donald Trump's second presidential inauguration.

The eldest daughter of Trump stood by her father’s side within the U.S. Capitol Rotunda as he was sworn in as the 47th U.S. president. She wore a forest green skirt suit and matching hat for the historic event.

Ivanka’s outfit contrasted the all-white look that she embraced during her father’s first presidential inauguration back in 2017.

The president’s swearing-in ceremony occurred just over two months after he defeated Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Event organizers decided last week that the ceremony would be moved inside the U.S. Capitol Building for the first time in 40 years due to the day’s anticipated cold weather conditions.

In the comments of an X post, one user reacted to Ivanka's fashion choice, writing, "Elegant," while another declared, "She looks lovely and dignified."

Someone else commented on X, "Superb! She dresses so beautifully, so much style and class."

Not everyone was into Ivanka's vibe, however.

One X user wrote, "Kinda reminds me of her," while sharing an image of Yvonne Strahovski as Serena Joy Waterford in the series The Handmaid's Tale.

A second agreed, writing, "Came straight from filming season 6 of Handmaids Tale,"

Meanwhile, yet another X user commented, "I had no idea the French Foreign Legion was in town."

A separate X post read, "The shade of green she’s wearing is near identical to the wives in The Handmaid’s Tale… Fitting really, given her father’s plan to decimate the United States and the rights of millions of people."

While Monday marked the start of the 78-year-old businessman-turned-politician’s second time serving as president, his 43-year-old daughter said this term will look a little different—at least as far as she is concerned.

Though Ivanka played an active role in her father’s administration over the course of his first term, she said during a recent appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast that she intends to support her father in a different way this time around.

“The main reason I am not going back to serve now is, I know the cost, and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear,” the mom of three explained. Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, share three children: Arabella, 13, Joseph, 11, and Theodore, 8.

She later described her father’s job as “the world’s loneliest position” before sharing how she imagines helping out over the next four years.

“I think I’m most looking forward to just being able to show up for him as a daughter, and be there for him to take his mind off things,” she said. “Like watch a movie with him, or watch a sports game. To know that he can be with me and be himself, and just relax, and for me to be able to provide that for him in a very loving way as his daughter.”
