Don Jr.’s New Girlfriend Sucks Up to Melania by Flaming Vogue
Donald Trump Jr.’s new girlfriend Bettina Anderson rebuked Vogue after it dragged Melania Trump’s official White House portrait.
An article in the influential fashion magazine this week said the first lady “looked more like she was guest starring on an episode of The Apprentice than assuming the role of first lady of the United States.” The scathing review also said the tuxedo Melania wore in the photograph made her appear “more like a freelance magician than a public servant.”
Anderson, a Palm Beach socialite and Trump family newbie, apparently saw an opportunity to score in-law points by defending Melania.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Anderson shared a clip of Fox reporting on the Vogue comments and added a caption saying: “Peace out Vogue magazine. In a world where you can be anything—be kind. You have gone off the rails and the world is OVER IT.”
The portrait by Belgian photographer Régine Mahaux shows the 54-year-old former model Melania with her hands splayed while leaning over a glass table in a smart suit featuring an open collar.
The withering Vogue review naturally drew the ire of the MAGAverse. “It’s unclear why Vogue directed their poisonous venom at Mrs. Trump. Envy, perhaps?” conservative Newsmax host Todd Starnes wrote in one of many frenzied responses.
Anderson’s stinging message could be an attempt to gain favor in the Trump family after it was reported that Donald Trump isn’t convinced the Florida socialite is a good fit for his son, following his split from fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Sources told Mediaite that the president and his advisers worry Anderson’s partying ways could hurt Don Jr. “Individuals close to the president have expressed growing concerns about the potential liability posed by his son’s new relationship,” a Trump family friend told the title earlier this month.
