Doechii Performing at the Grammys Is a Must-Watch-and-Rewatch
POV: Doechii just performed “Catfish” and “Denial Is a River” at the 2025 Grammys, and it’s time to totally zone out of the rest of the show because all that matters is watching this on repeat.

“It feels like this is bigger than me, you know? It feels like a movement of art. Authenticity wins,” Doechii said to reporters—including Cosmopolitan’s Sam Olson—in the winner’s room backstage after winning a Grammy and performing onstage. “This performance is one of the most difficult performances I’ve ever done and I really felt a need to push myself harder than I ever had before. It meant everything to prove myself tonight to me. So it was about Broadway and theater and art, and I think I brought that to the stage.”
Gotta assume you’re no longer reading due to continuously watching her performance on repeat ^, but just in case...reminder that Doechii was nominated for Best New Artist this year as well as Best Remixed Recording, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album (which she already won as of this article going up!).
Just FYI, Doechii talked about her Swamp Princess alter ego and the influence South Florida has had on her with Paper Magazine last year, saying, “The Swamp Princess is me. She’s the main character. I’m from Tampa. Usually when people think about Florida, they think about Miami. A lot of people assume I’m from Miami, which is a completely different part of Florida. I like to highlight the rougher part of Florida, which is the swamp and the Everglades.”
She went on to add, “The environment is harsh and rough, but it’s also beautiful at the same time. I love that contrast. The Swamp Princess is about highlighting that beautiful area of Florida and claiming the swamp as ultimately mine and claiming Florida as mine, because I run that shit.”
In conclusion: “I believe that I am the future of the sound of Florida,” she said. “I represent it in a way that nobody has represented it before. In a way, I am reclaiming it.” According to her, she represents South Florida “as this multifaceted rapper. I’m alternative, kind of nerdy, super hot, kind of awkward, conscious, but also I’m twerking and ass-shaking. It’s just this ball of everything I represent, down to my aesthetic. I’m bringing something that hasn’t been done before and it’s because I’m me. That’s why I’m bringing something new. I believe I’m the future, because I’m me.”
