DIY Perfect Eyebrows
Q: How do I groom my eyebrows like a pro?
A: After the age of 40, well-shaped brows can provide an instant facelift—erasing years from your appearance—because brows help define features and give eyelids a lift. And with beautiful brows, you can get away with wearing less make-up! Use this blueprint to create the perfect pair.
1. Snip strays
Using a brow brush, comb unruly hairs upwards and use nail scissors to trim long stragglers that go beyond your desired brow line.
2. Shape with tweezers
Pluck strays with a slanted or angled tool such as Tweezerman Slant Tweezer ($49.95; 1800 251 215). The brow’s inner edge should align with the inside corner of your eye; the tail should extend just past the eye’s outer corner.
3. Fill in spots
Colour in bald spots with a brow pencil (sketch using upward strokes) or powder with an angled eyeliner brush. Try L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Custom Brow Shaping Pencils ($23.95; 1300 659 259) or glominerals gloBrow Collection ($65; 1800 664 455).
4. Set in place
Comb on brow gel to tame hairs. Try Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper ($45; 1800 061 326). Or use a sweep of pawpaw ointment or Vaseline to set strays in place.
